I went through a phase of being absolutely in love with Emma & Tom’s choc orange bars, but the price sure didn’t allow me to satisfy my love;) So I decided to make my own! First attempt couldn’t have gone better – the mixture wasn’t the consistency I desired so I added some rolled oats and BAM the most beautiful food on Earth was created! Well, a little bit of an exaggeration as there are so many delicious foods out there, but this my friends is up there with the best of them.
Choc Orange Raw Food Balls
Ingredients:
- 15 dates, soaked until softened
- 1 cup cashews
- ½ cup rolled oats
- 3tbsp cacao powder
- ½ tbsp agave, or other liquid sweetener
- ¼ tsp orange essence
- Chia seeds, optional
Method:
- In a food processor, pulse cashews for 10 seconds.
- Add remaining ingredients except for chia seeds. Pulse until mixture comes together. It should be moist and just slightly sticky.
- Roll into balls. Roll in chia seeds – they add a nice texture and appealing look, but do get a bit messy when they start to fall off as you eat them. Refrigerate; they will become a bit firmer.
